History

The history of the journal dates back to 1913, when the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) launched its official publication, the Proceedings of the IRE. Alfred Norton Goldsmith was the Editor of the Proceedings of the IRE for the first 42 years.[2]

When IEEE was formed in 1963 as a merger of IRE and American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Proceedings of the IRE changed its name to the Proceedings of the IEEE.
